Overheard at Work

My boss walked into my cubby while a coworker was kneeling down beside me talking and exclaimed, “Don’t pray to Susan!”

I don’t know, I think all who enter the dominion of my cubical should knee down beside me and pray to the all powerful Mole. :)

Tuesday Tunes: Duran Duran

Since seeing Moondog’s posting of “Do They Know it’s Christmas,” I’ve been in a Duran Duran kind of mood. This is one of my favorite DD songs that wasn’t a hit. I love the way Simon sings the song all sultry-ish, it’s totally hott.

Blog Pimping

In case you need more awesome in your day check out:
Today in Awesome an amusing blog by a couple of people that I know. Although I reserve the right to deny that statement.

Not sure if I should keep the blog going or not, I’ve been quite lax with it of late. Anywho, this is my new favorite commercial. Yup it stars that tool Vince from ShamWow now pushing the Slap Chop. It’s true genius.

Tuesday Tunes: She & Him

Zooey Deschanel & M. Ward have recently released a CD under the name She & Him

Zooey has such an interesting voice (in a good way), not sure how to describe the music but there is something old tyme-y about it and her vocals. I feel like I should be  sitting on a porch swing with my lemonade in hand while listening to the album on my phonograph.

The Giggle Loop

The Giggle Loop from the UK show Coupling. If you haven’t watched this series rent the DVD, very funny stuff.

(from wikipedia)

The giggle loop is the increasing urge to laugh during a moment of solemnity or silence. Jeff’s standard illustration of the giggle loop is that of stacking pint glasses in a tower; each pint representing one iteration of the loop, and the eventual fall and costly breakage representing the giggler’s credibility.

Today at work we had a half day follow up to some diversity training. In one of the breakout sessions the facilitators did a relaxation exercise. Complete with “let your feet relax” and moving on up the body, talking in that drifty monotone voice.

I had a hard time holding it together. I looked at one of my co-workers and we both tried hard to stifle our laughter. It would have been inappropriate to laugh out loud which of course made me want to laugh all the more.

My mantra throughout the relaxation exercise was “Keep staring at the paper in front of you, don’t make eye contact with SB.” SB was reciting a similar mantra “Keep my eyes closed, don’t make eye contact with Molie.”

We were surprisingly successful.

Back from Haitus

Wow, It’s been a while since my last post, time flies and all that. It was our busy time at work and I lacked the mental energy to post anything when I got home. I could have filled up a lot of posts about work frustrations but decided against it. If I was to do that, or do in the future then I would password protect those posts.

I did keep up with my blog reading (priorities, I has them) although the comments were perhaps few and far between.

Let the blogging begin!
